Aborginies

1.  In 1788 the English were surprised to find the Aborginials.  As the English began to colonize they took over the native land.  This led to the Natives to be taken out of their home lands and they were forced into other places.  While this was happening the English beat and killed many Natives for not cooperating.

2.  At this time there was not a government to run Sydney.  Because there was no government the British thought they had the right to invade the land and take what they wanted.  Once again the Natives were being taken out of their home land and forced to live somewhere else.  When the British began to settle into colonies this led to extreme illness.  The Natives did not have the immune systems to fight off these new diseases.  Illnesses that went around were:  small pox, influenza, and the measles.  The British not only brought over these new illnesses but they brought non-native animals.  This ruined the land.

3.  In 1909 the APB (Aborginial Protection Board) started the stolen generation movement.  The point of this movement was to divide the cultures.  All non-full blooded Aborginials were put into the "white culture" group.  This led to the children being thought of as slaves and servants who would, in the future, work for the British.  This was not how it was planned out to be though, the point of making this movement was to take the children from unfit parents.

4.  During this time period the children were mainly affected.  They began to hear stories about their history and culture.  This began to upset them.  To act out and show their frustration they began to live dangerous and violent lives.  Not only was this endangering for the people around them but also for themselves.  This led to early death in the children.

5.  There are still searches going on to find lost children.  They might not be children any longer but they are not stable and now in adulthood.  There are challenges for finding the children because they have been intermixed with so many races that it can be difficult to indentify them.  This is showing how their are still problems today with the children.

6.  If I could apologize to the prime minister I would say, that it was a terrible time in history for Australia.  I would apologize for taking the land from the people and trying to destroy the culture.  I know that the culture and people have been around for thousands of years and that they know how to use the land to their benefits.  The Aborginals deserve to live in the natural lands of Australia because not only do they deserve it but they know how to cherish it.  This apology should have been given years ago, but now I hope they would accept it and know that there is regret in the decisions/actions that were put forth during this time period.
